Shavon graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree specialising in Microbiology and Physiology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She graduated with an Honours in Medical Microbiology from the same institution. In 2011 she started her career at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) while completing her Masters Degree in Biotechnology through the University of Pretoria which she graduated cum laude with thesis titled “Antibody characterisation for the development of an E. coli immunosensor: A model system for water quality monitoring”. Shavon has over 10 years’ industry experience with published articles and patents in point of care paper-based and other biosensor diagnostic technologies addressing LMIC needs. In addition to joining Policy Cures Research on the G-FINDER Project, she is currently the managing director and co-founder of Shiloh Research & Development Consulting. She aims to positively impact healthcare by improving the lives of all people through advanced, affordable and available technological solutions.
