A critical drug drought in maternal health

➡️In 2020, there was a maternal death every two minutes

➡️Almost 95% of those lives lost are in low- and middle-income countries

➡️Most are preventable

➡️BUT since the 1950s, only two drugs have been developed and registered specifically for pregnancy-specific conditions: Carbetocin and Atosiban.

Together with Concept Foundation and Burnet Institute, we have published in The Lancet Global Health on the striking lack of innovation for pregnancy-related conditions and the gender bias in research.
