About Impact Global Health
Impact Global Health (IGH) is an independent, non-profit global health policy and research organisation. Our mission is to promote the advancement of health for the world’s most disadvantaged people and populations by providing research, information, and strategic analysis. We support governments, funders, product developers and others in making optimal research and development (R&D) investment and policy decisions for diseases and health issues disproportionately affecting populations in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
With a strong global footprint, IGH collaborates with partners worldwide, and we are rapidly expanding to meet the needs of a changing global health landscape.
About the Global Advisory Council (GAC)
The Global Advisory Council serves as a high-level advisory group to assist IGH with adapting to and meeting the continually evolving needs of the global health R&D sector and its stakeholders. The Council will support IGH in horizon-scanning and strategy-shaping to ensure the organisation remains focused on salient global health innovation challenges and opportunities and is poised to deliver maximum value and impact. It is a consultative panel of international experts that will serve as a sounding board and brain trust, providing essential insights to IGH’s leadership about global trends that are impacting the innovation ecosystem and counselling IGH on its vision, priorities, external engagements, growth and business development pursuits.
Role Overview
As a member of the Global Advisory Council, you will provide high-level advisory support to IGH during biannual meetings (to be held virtually). You will be expected review briefing packs and pre-read materials prior to each meeting, which will be facilitated by one or more members of the IGH leadership team.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Guidance: Provide expert input on global health R&D ecosystem and policy priorities, focusing on areas like biomedical innovation, access to innovations in LMICs, decolonising global health, health and economic impact modelling, climate change and more.
- Advisory Support: Offer strategic advice to IGH on optimising positioning for business development opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, shaping communications campaigns and external engagement efforts, and weighing in on how best to shape the organisation’s evolving research and analysis agenda.
- Meetings and Engagement: Participate in two virtual meetings annually (1.5 hours each) and one additional 60 minute call for ad-hoc strategic advice if needed.
- Promote IGH’s Impact: Amplify and promote IGH’s work through your professional networks and external engagements with relevant global health stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated expertise in global health, policy, biomedical innovation, data sciences for health, artificial intelligence, innovative financing, cutting-edge technologies in health R&D or related fields.
- Experience in health and medical research or policy, with a strong track record of influencing health outcomes or shaping health policy globally.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in health R&D, particularly for underserved populations in LMICs.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Willingness to participate in Council meetings and contribute your time as a volunteer without financial remuneration.
- Experience in strategic advisory or non-executive board roles strongly preferred.
Term:
Council members serve unremunerated with a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal for one additional term.
Benefits:
- Opportunity to influence global health research and development strategies impacting underserved populations.
- Collaborate with global leaders and experts in the field of health innovation.
- Contribute to IGH’s mission of improving health outcomes for the world’s most disadvantaged populations.
